Luckily Lisa came to my rescue. Ironically, she showed up with her basket of felt and showed me the adorable little animals she'd been creating for Lillian (with NO pattern, mind you...) So with her creative suggestions I got motivated to finish the set.

The Cupcakes
Some of you know I've been working on these since October. I got frustrated after the first one, after finding that the pattern was a lot more tricky than I had anticipated.

Christmas Baking
The girls love to help me bake. I made two versions of Peanut Butter Blossoms last week. Both recipes were good, but different. The first was more crisp and the second more chewy.
C and E did some great teamwork to unwrap all those kisses:

Preschool - Week 13 - Letter L
This week was brought to you by the Letter L and the Number 12. :-)
Here's what we covered:
Language Arts:
- Letter of the week craft: (lollipop)

- Handwriting worksheets (lion, this one, and this one.)
- L Sound worksheet
- Here's a worksheet that E did this week. Sometimes she likes to color while C does her printing. E is really improving in her coloring and starting to mimic C's love of "rainbows":

Math:
- Number 12 worksheet
- Leaf Grid Game:
* I found the grid game on a great website called PreKinders.com. The girls loved "rolling" (aka throwing) the giant die and couting out buttons to put onto their grids. I'd love to do this again in the future and maybe include some of the neat manipulatives like are shown on the site:

Science:
- Lions
* Read books about lions, made a lion craft:

- Science Journal page:

Social Studies:
* Librarians
- Read books about librarians
- Went to the library to ask the librarians what their favorite thing was about their job. This was really hard for C because she is so shy. The first one I had to ask and C hid behind me with her face buried in my legs the whole time. The second time I threatened not getting a movie unless she asked the question and she did, although did not make eye contact. What do I do with that?
Sight Words:
* leaf, lion, let, little, look, love
* C's been doing much better with her sight words. I think she knows about 63 right now! Most of them she whips through but some are still a struggle (like "black" and "duck" which she often mixes up. the lower case b and d are hard for her to keep straight). I've been trying to add some variety to the sight words by making up worksheets for her, like this week and also by putting the words on the floor in silly sentences.

Snack:
* Lollipops :-)
Music:
* Lang Lang
Bible Stories:
* Read verses about the Bible being God's Word and talked about what that means

Craft-Fail?
I have a lot of crafty ideas and grandiose plans, but they don't always turn out as planned. I found a link to this beautiful wreath made from a coat hanger and round ornaments.
I attempted to make my own with some black-Friday bargains. Not quite what I had envisioned, but it will have to do for now:

Advent Calendar
I'd seen this idea floating around the Interent and thought it would be fun to try out this year. I already had the mini-muffin pan, scrapbook paper and stickers. All I bought was some magnetic paper from Hobby Lobby. I borrowed Dionne's Cricut to cut out all the circles, ran them through my Xyron sticker-machine and attached them to the magnetic paper. Then all I needed to do was cut them out, put on the stickers and put it together.

To fill it up, I wrote out some fun activities on paper slips (i.e. bake Christmas cookies, drive around to see Christmas lights, etc.) and also included some mini-ornaments for the girls.

Ideally this would be hanging from the wall, but the magnets are not strong enough to hold the little ornaments inside, when vertical. So far, it's a hit! And the best part is, I can reuse it for next year and still have the use of my muffin pan. :-)
