Recently, I heard about a book called Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day
Anyways, I got the book and decided to try it out. Doug is a bread-snob and really loves sourdough and artisan breads. The idea is that you make up a mongo batch of dough and keep it in the fridge for up to two weeks. Whenever you want bread, you cut off a hunk, shape it, rest it, and bake it. Simple!
The result was REALLY REALLY REALLY good. Really. Doug said, "you have arrived in breadmaking." I don't know about that, but I'm definately on my way.
p.s. I worked out the cost per loaf, as pictured: $0.43

Are you sure you didn't stop by Panera on your way from CVS ;)
If it tastes as good as it looks, you have definitely arrived!
No, I didn't stop by Panera, haha. ;-) But now I know how they make all their money! They'd charge about $4-$5 for a loaf like that.
So what's the recipe? I LOVE fresh bread!
Recipe - is it going to be posted on the Nye Sistas Website or here?
Here is a link to it: http://krisgardens.blogspot.com/2008/01/artisan-bread-in-five-minutes-day.html
But I seriously do recommend reading the book to know the what and why and how and when.
This sound wonderful! I make homemade bread too, but by the loaf. I do have a brown Irish quick bread you guys might like if you want the recipe. I learned how to make it at my "gourmet" cooking class that I went to.
Cheryl - yes, I'd love the recipe!
And a word of warning. Do NOT use a Pyrex glass pan to create steam in the oven. It will explode violently and cause you to clean up glass shards from your oven for several hours.
Aaron and I got a breadmaker last year and we love it. It's the taste of home-made without the time. Although, I must say, it is no where near as beautiful as yours. :)
